about the premiership
The FA Premier League (Barclays Premiership) was formed in 1992, prior to that it was called the English First Division. Originally and up to 2001 it was sponsored by Carling, it is now sponsored by Barclays. The Premier League consists of 20 teams who play each other twice a season, once at home and once away.
Normal kick-off times (GMT), Weekdays 8pm, Weekends 1.30pm, 3pm, 5.30pm. 3 points are awarded for a win, and 1 point for a draw. The League Table is sorted by Points scored, then Goal Difference, and then Goals scored. The Champions and the three Runners-up qualify for the following season's European Champions League. The bottom 3 teams are relegated to the Coca Cola Championship.
